What evidence supported curriculum resources and instructional strategies encourage student learning? How do you identify HiCap students and assess their growth? What psychosocial skills do your students need to maximize learning? And, how do we support equitable instruction and identification for all students, particularly those from culturally, linguistically, and economically different backgrounds? HiCap students need advanced instruction matched to their strengths and levels of understanding in order to learn and grow. Summer 2023 Teaching for Learning Institute Resources & Strategies that Promote Differentiation & Talent Development for HiCap Learners Overall, lovely school-even if the ACs are broken!. The physics department is constantly being complained about by my friends, so I highly don't suggest that mess. They give large servings and don't really mind if you need a second if you're an athlete and need to eat a bunch (cough my friends).Īs for academics, you have to take honors or AP classes (there is no more IB) if you want to even be in a good learning environment the regular classes are loud and hard to event teach from what I hear. There are basically no BIPOC teachers at all, and this is a large school! The student body diversity is also very lacking, and while people are not often open racist (etc.), you definitely feel like something is lacking.įood is terrific these days as the food staff truly stepped it up we have free lunches for everyone, and they are fantastic! There are many options, like soups, salads, pizza, tacos, sandwiches, burgers, sweet/regular potatoes, fruit, and more. The faculty and teachers care so much about these kids it's crazy. Hearing about the environment of larger schools in the area has made me so grateful for having such a small and loving community to grow within. So many small moments in this district changed my life meeting life long friends, going camping for the first time with Adventure Club (and loving it), learning to love athletics through cross country and track, getting to use power tools with the theater program, etc. Thanks to their tireless work, my personal interests were nurtured and I'm now continuing to study them in college. The teachers of this district are some of the most passionate and hard-working mentors I've ever met. I'm forever indebted to this school for being such an incredible environment to grow and learn in. Overall, in addition to making lifelong friends and connections, I have grown to see the true value hard work in my life from Parkway!. I care a lot about the community and family that Parkway is, so I will advocate for my teachers the same way that they advocated for me. My educational journey would not be the same without my teachers having the time to prepare each day and maintain a consistent work-life balance. That being said, I have noticed that high school teachers are losing some of their plan time, which I found frustrating. I'm a huge proponent of their choice programs and cadet teaching experiences l've benefited greatly from getting to personalize my education and build meaningful connections with the Parkway community. Senior: I have had many amazing teachers and experiences as a student at Parkway! I appreciate their student-first approach in everything that they do, and I’m constantly inspired by all of the time and dedication that my teachers put into teaching.
